Bee 🐝 philosophy

 

Finally we have arrived at our destination:  Hotel 🏨 Atlantis in Agios Constantinos. Our hosts are Gabi and Dimitris. 

We carry our  suitcases 🧳 up the steep stairs and are welcomed with a warm smile and a cool drink. Dimitris is born here and his family has lived on Samos for generations. 

He proudly shows the lush garden with vibrant trees 🌳 and plants. His eyes  twinkle when he explains all the exotic fruits he is growing. The garden and terrace is covered with remarkable tiles, ornaments, and bottles they found on the beach. The terrain is covered with pots and plants and looks like a botanical garden. As we meet the other guests and dogs 🐕 suddenly a bird lands on Dimitris shoulder. He smiles calmly ; this is Kiko our Flemish Jay, we saved him as a chick, but he can be quite naughty. Dimitris and Gabi have opened up their hearts and home to many injured animals. They both have developed a close relationship with nature throughout their lives. But now after running the hotel 🏨 for 20 years they have decided this will be their last season.  They would like to retire a little and focus on their Bee  🐝 🐝 colony and produce the famous Bee Philosophy honey 🍯 It is quite a delicate job to maintain the hives Dimitris explains. At the moment the Queenbee is just getting enough food not to stop laying eggs but also not too much for her to expand the colony . 

In the morning Gabi and Dimitris attend to their garden theirs dogs and their guests. We have an amazing breakfast with self made bread , fresh eggs, home made marmalade and toast with honey 🍯. It is wonderful to stay at Atlantis we are treated like royal family. Finally the sun 🌅 sets and we are going to bed. This night I have the weirdest dream. Dimitris is a drone bee and suddenly very lazy.  The female guests are honey bees and doing all the work in the hive. They are building new hexagon structures to the hotel. We are almost closed in by walls of honey wax. Then the QueenBee👸appears It is Gabi in a wide flapping dress and a huge body and long tail . She is laying eggs 🥚 on the table but not just two eggs. She lays more and more and she doesn’t stop. Not twenty not two hundred but finally there are two thousand eggs on the table. Gabi smiles exhausted: “This is about right for the wedding of our daughter” After this work the Queen is really hungry and suddenly she grabs Dimitris and takes him back to the hive forlunch. And guess who is on the menu ?
